Review of SB 179 Requirements for for implementing a Comprehensive School Counseling Program






SB 179 enacted during the 87th legislative session set forth requirements for school counselors to spend 80% of their time implementing the Texas Model Comprehensive Counseling Program.  This session will cover to four components of a Comprehensive Counseling Model as well as look at practical ways to implement the program and how to collect data to inform decision-making. Other topics include the District Annual Assessment requirement outlined in 19 TAC 61.1073.

Important Session Information:


In this session participants will learn the Texas Model for School Counseling Components, look at practical ways to implement programs, understand data collection that informs decision-making and how to access the district's Counseling Program annually.

NOTE: This training meets the administrator requirement for the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling.
