Social Studies: Model UN-Using Deliberations and Diplomacy Simulations in the Social Studies Classroom

Deliberations and diplomacy simulations provide unique, interactive experiences for students.  These activities focus on active listening, consensus building and problem-solving using real-world scenarios – although fictional scenarios can be just as fun and can offer great opportunities for cross-curricular activities. This workshop will provide lessons, resources, and best practices for using both of these strategies in a variety of social studies classes, including US and World History, Government, Geography.  In addition, the workshop will introduce a TEA approved CTE course in teaching Diplomacy.  Finally, you can keep the learning going outside of your classroom by building a Model United Nations team.  We will provide strategies, tips, and advice on building a Model UN team on your campus.
