This course teaches the participants the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents including depression, anxiety, psychosis, eating disorders, AD/HD, disruptive behavior disorders and substance use disorder.

Important Session Information:


Youth Mental Health First Aid takes a look at various mental health topics such as anxiety, depression, substance use, psychotic disorders, disruptive behavior disorders and eating disorders. It is designed to teach teachers, school staff, parents, family members, caregivers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

This Blended Course includes a 2-hours self-paced online pre-work that must be completed prior to attending the 5.5 hour in-person portion of the class that will be held at Region 8 ESC.
