In this session participants will explore the proficiency level descriptors (PLDs) for a deeper understanding of the second language acquisition process and the role proficiency level descriptors play in instructional design and lesson planning.
Teachers will identify patterns in student abilities at each of the language proficiency levels (Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, Advanced High) for each of the language domains (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) and teacher behaviors that will facilitate the student's ability to advance into the next proficiency level.
Teachers will leave with tools, tips and strategies for planning with the PLDs to accelerate their emergent bilingual students second language proficiency.
