Virtual PD - Fostering Resilience and Preventing Suicide
Best Practices In Suicide Postvention

This session will be presented by the Health and Human Services Department and is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to and support individuals, families, and communities in the aftermath of a suicide.  Participants will gain insights into the impact of suicide, explore evidence-based postvention strategies, and develop practical tools for promoting resilience and preventing future suicide attempts.

Important Session Information:

Studies show that 1 in 5 children in the U.S. show symptoms of mental health disorders each year and suicide is now the 2nd leading cause of death for children ages 10-24. Schools are challenged to work with children and youth who experience mental health challenges. In the event of a student suicide, it is critical for school crisis teams to have evidenced based strategies and interventions in place to support the school and campus community as well as work to prevent suicide contagion. Participants will explore evidence-based postvention strategies, and develop practical tools for promoting resilience and preventing future suicide attempts.
