Equitable Assessments and Progress Monitoring for Emergent Bilingual Students
Enhancing ESL Program Implementation Lever 5 Deep Dive
Share
This session will provide a deep dive into the Lever 5, Curriculum & Resources category of the ESL Enhancing Program Implementation Rubric. We will discuss the teacher's role (in conjunction with the LPAC) and practical ways to:
• monitor the progress of academic success of current and former emergent bilinguals (two years after reclassification),
• determine appropriate assessment options for the state assessment (STAAR) for emergent bilinguals served in the ESL program, and
• provide designated supports as necessary
We will discuss coordination between the LPAC, testing coordinators, and classroom teachers of emergent bilingual students to ensure designated supports provided by the LPAC for state assessment are commensurate with students’ linguistic needs and are utilized during classroom instruction.
