Writing - Quality Rubrics and Effective Feedback: The Key to Student Improvement!
for Secondary Classrooms - Spring 2024

Having quality rubrics and exemplars for students to work with as they complete writing assignments is critical. This often-overlooked step is the focus of our time together. Using materials for the upcoming unit, we will work to ensure that our assignment is aligned with the complexity of our objectives and demands of the STAAR. We will also examine our rubrics and exemplars to make sure that students have clear expectations. Digging into student responses in an effort to provide constructive feedback can be daunting! This session will delve into utilizing probing questions to clarify a student's thought processes and clearly articulate a response that is specific to the task.

Participants are encouraged to bring writing assignments, rubrics, and student samples to examine during the workshop.

This training is aligned to the ESF lever 5.3: Data-Driven Instruction.
