Reading and Writing Poetry, 3-5

Poetry is an art form that connects the reader to the world around them. As students learn to read and interact with poetry across a variety of poetic forms, they will learn to analyze the author’s craft in order to interpret, visualize, comprehend, and respond to poetry on a different level. We will connect the genre characteristics of poetry and develop the process of teaching our students to compose original poems by using their reading connections. We will be using TEKS Resource System and Implementing TEKS Resource System.
