The 'How To' Series: How to Read, Respond To, & Write (Fill in the Genre)
Poetry & Drama: Looking Beyond the Literal

Teaching secondary students to read, respond to, and write with the characteristics of each genre is essential for understanding and applying the TEKS. Sessions in this series examine the specificity and assessment nature of each genre while providing ideas and strategies that allow students to get the most out of their RLA experience.

Important Session Information:

The STAAR test has clear expectations: students must be able to look beyond the literal meaning of a text in order to reach the level of acceptable critical thinking. Poetry and Drama offer opportunities for students to explore those ideas that hover below the surface! Join us as we explore strategies to assist students with growth as they learn to analyze selections and write about their findings.
