Fiction & Literary Narrative Non-Fiction: Digging Deeper into the Function of Literary Elements






Teaching secondary students to read, respond to, and write with the characteristics of each genre is essential for understanding and applying the TEKS. Sessions in this series examine the specificity and assessment nature of each genre while providing ideas and strategies that allow students to get the most out of their RLA experience.

Important Session Information:


Can you clearly explain the difference in Fiction and Literary Narrative Non-Fiction to your students? This session will dig into the specificity of the TEKS! Participants will explore the function of literary elements, and we will use examples and activities to teach these genres on a deeper level. Teachers will leave the session with ideas and an understanding of what students must be able to do to read, respond to, and write with these genres.
