Engaging Reluctant Readers & Writers






We all have them - students who "don't like to" read or who insist that they "can't" write. Join us as we take a look at time-tested strategies that invite students into the reading and writing processes - and get them hooked! Pam Lee will show us how to use new titles and the classics to teach vocabulary for writing while encouraging students to read like an author. Brandie Craver will help us maximize available library resources to find non-fiction selections to pair with our readings. And, of course, we will tie it back to STAAR with appropriate questioning techniques that mirror the complexity of our standards. It will be a day packed with good resources - bring a sharp pencil!
