Students with multiple disabilities, including severe cognitive delays, visual impairments, and deaf-blindness, require unique considerations when completing assessments, lesson planning, implementing strategies, and documenting progress. This session is designed to introduce the Active Learning approach to district educational teams for consideration with individual students.
This training covers the basic principles of Active Learning, an approach developed by Dr. Lilli Nielsen of Denmark. The Active Learning approach emphasizes that all individuals learn best through active participation. In the earliest stages of learning (sensorimotor and early preoperational stages), it is this active participation that actually “wires the brains” of all human learners.
This session is designed for anyone who serves students who function between the developmental ages of birth to 48 months (no matter the chronological age).
This workshop also includes a make-and-take activity.
