Social Studies: Teaching Strategies--Thinking Like An Historian






This workshop will take a closer look at the recently added Unit to the TEKS Resource curriculum (Unit 1) for social studies classes.  Participants will examine strategies to help students relate to the critical thinking skills associated with historical inquiry.  Teachers will be able to help students employ strategies for the close reading of historical sources, both primary and secondary.  Mastery of the skills used by historians is necessary for students to become resourceful consumes of information readily and abundantly available in twenty-first century society.
