Holistic Rater Training: Beginner's Edition for K-1 Teachers






New to K–1 TELPAS holistic rating? This introductory session is designed for educators who are completing the holistic rating process for the first time. Participants will build a strong foundation by exploring the Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs), understanding the purpose of holistic ratings, and learning what evidence to collect throughout the school year. Through guided examples and practical tips, educators will gain the confidence needed to successfully complete the K–1 holistic rating process.

Designed specifically for first-time K–1 holistic raters, this session simplifies the holistic rating process by breaking it down into manageable steps. Participants will learn how to use the PLDs, identify appropriate classroom evidence, and recognize the characteristics of each proficiency level. Through authentic examples and guided practice, educators will leave with a clearer understanding of the rating process and greater confidence in their role as holistic raters.
