School Counseling 101: Guidelines and Tips for a New Counselor
New School Counselor Cohort






Welcome new school counselors! If you are a brand new counselor or you have three or fewer years of experience, please join this cohort for an opportunity to learn guidelines and tips and school counseling best practices. Participants will have an opportunity to meet and collaborate with other new counselors in the Region 8 ESC area.



Important Session Information:


This session will provide an overview of the school counselor role and the Comprehensive School Counseling Program (CSCP). Topics will include the four components of a CSCP, student competencies, and the 80/20 work time policy per TEC 33.006.  After completing this session, participants are encouraged to register for School Counseling 102 that will provide more grade level specifics for elementary and secondary school counselors.
