Communication in the Classroom: Core Vocabulary and More

Are you a professional who supports students with complex communication needs, including teachers and related service providers, who wants to promote communication, and academic progress (e.g.,SLPs, teachers, OTs, diagnosticians, etc.)?

We have the HYBRID session for you...

This session goes beyond defining AAC by focusing on practical strategies for integrating it into everyday academic activities. Designed for anyone working with individuals who use AAC—not just speech-language pathologists (SLPs)—the session provides tools for effective modeling and communication using a variety of AAC supports. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, including navigating a low-tech communication board, and practice applying strategies to support learning in reading, writing, math, and science.

After this session, you will be able to:

Describe and list 3 different AAC tools
Identify vocabulary in academic lessons that is used to promote communication
List 3 classroom activities where AAC can be modeled
Create an action plan to incorporate AAC in your own setting

Join us in person or on Zoom!
