Seeing the Structure: Dissecting the ECR
The Anatomy of STAAR Series






The Extended Constructed Response represents the highest level of cognitive demand on the STAAR assessment. In this session, participants will examine prompt design, rubric alignment, and characteristics of high-scoring responses. Teachers will explore how reading comprehension, organization, and analysis intersect within the ECR. Instructional implications will focus on helping students clearly see and develop strong reasoning rather than rely on formulaic writing.
