Thank you for choosing to complete this one-hour online course.  The "PICK SIX" options began May 15, 2026 and will give you more variety and convenience in completing your annual six-hour GT Update.  Each of these "Pick Six" one-hour courses counts as one hour of credit/PD toward you six-hour state mandated hours.  The courses will end on May 31, 2027. PLEASE remember to print your certificate after completing the course.  You will find your certificate ready to print in your Region 8 ESC teacher account.  You can complete the short survey and then print your certificate.

The overall rationale for deciding between enrichment and advancement for gifted and talented students rests on aligning instruction with the student’s demonstrated readiness, depth of understanding, and learning needs rather than simply their age or grade level. Advancement (such as accelerating through content or moving to higher-grade material) is most appropriate when a student has already mastered grade-level standards and is ready to progress at a faster pace without significant gaps, ensuring they remain challenged and continue academic growth. In contrast, enrichment is better suited for students who benefit from exploring content more deeply and broadly—engaging in critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary connections—without necessarily moving ahead in the curriculum sequence. Effective educators use ongoing assessment data, student interests, and social-emotional considerations to determine the
