Delivering non-verbal instructional strategies to first identify and then serve multi-language/English learner (EB) gifted and talented students is that traditional, language-heavy assessments and instruction often mask advanced thinking by conflating language proficiency with cognitive ability. By incorporating visual, spatial, kinesthetic, and performance-based approaches—such as pattern recognition tasks, modeling, drawing, demonstrations, and problem-based learning—educators can more accurately recognize high-level reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving that may not yet be expressible in English. These strategies reduce linguistic barriers, allowing students to demonstrate giftedness through multiple modalities, while also providing equitable access to advanced learning opportunities.
