Thank you for choosing to complete this one-hour online course.  The "PICK SIX" options began May 15, 2026 and will give you more variety and convenience in completing your annual six-hour GT Update.  Each of these "Pick Six" one-hour courses counts as one hour of credit/PD toward you six-hour state mandated hours.  The courses will end on May 31, 2027. PLEASE remember to print your certificate after completing the course.  You will find your certificate ready to print in your Region 8 ESC teacher account.  You can complete the short survey and then print your certificate.

Gifted students might experience peer pressure in unique ways because their advanced abilities and interests can set them apart from classmates. They may feel a strong internal conflict between wanting to achieve at a high level and wanting to fit in socially, sometimes leading them to hide their abilities or underperform to avoid standing out. At the same time, their heightened awareness and sensitivity can make them more attuned to social dynamics, which can intensify the pressure they feel to conform. Some gifted students cope by seeking out like-minded peers or supportive environments where intellectual curiosity is valued, while others may struggle with isolation or anxiety. Helping gifted students navigate peer pressure involves fostering environments that celebrate individuality, encourage authentic self-expression, and provide opportunities to connect with others who share their interests.
