Strengthening Instruction for Multilingual Learners
Through Language Development, Data-Informed Teaching, and Responsive Classrooms

This full-day professional learning experience is designed to support educators in strengthening instructional practices that promote English language development and academic success for multilingual learners across content areas.

Important Session Information:

Participants will deepen their understanding of second language acquisition processes and how language develops through meaningful academic interaction and content-based instruction. Educators will explore ways to use student language proficiency data and academic performance indicators to guide instructional decisions that support both language growth and mastery of grade-level content.

The session will also highlight practical approaches for integrating the NEW English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) into daily instruction using content-based language instruction strategies that allow students to simultaneously develop academic language and conceptual understanding in core subject areas.

In addition, participants will examine how to cultivate inclusive and linguistically responsive classroom environments that value students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds while strengthening partnerships with families from diverse communities.
