The Thinking Circle: Discourse-Driven Reading Communities
Share
Student-led book clubs are most effective when intentionally designed for rigor, accountability, and standards alignment. In this session, secondary RLA teachers will explore structures that move literature circles beyond surface-level conversation to sustained, text-based analysis. Participants will learn discussion frameworks that require every student to contribute evidence-based thinking aligned to the RLA TEKS. The session also focuses on connecting discussion to meaningful writing tasks that extend beyond short constructed responses, helping students transform collaborative analysis into deeper, transferable written composition. Leave with practical tools to strengthen both student discourse and analytical writing.
