Writing is Rewriting: Teaching the Iterative Writing Process
Share
Writing is not a one-draft event but an iterative process requiring intentional instruction in revision and refinement. This session explores how to move beyond checklist writing toward authentic drafting and revising practices. Participants will examine distinctions between revision and editing, explore writing workshop structures, and design mini-lessons that build revision stamina. Teachers will leave with practical tools for embedding drafting, conferencing, and revision cycles into everyday instruction, ensuring students experience writing as a craft rather than a task to complete.
