Session
Information:
Struggling adolescent readers do not need simplified texts—they need coherent instruction that aligns reading, writing, and assessment with equal rigor. This session challenges educators to move beyond strand isolation toward literacy design that builds analysis, synthesis, and evidence-based thinking across TEKS strands. Participants will examine whether classroom tasks truly require written justification and deep comprehension, then design purposeful, text-dependent writing experiences that strengthen reading outcomes. Emphasis is placed on vertical alignment, recursive skill development, calibrated feedback, and authentic assessment. Teachers will leave with practical structures to elevate cognitive demand while accelerating literacy growth.
