Self-Contained Special Education New Teacher Series






This three-day training series is designed for self-contained special education teachers and focuses on developing meaningful IEPs, delivering aligned instruction, differentiating lessons to meet individual learning needs, and supporting communication for all learners. Grounded in the Quality Indicators from the Rubric of Effective Practices for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities, each session includes hands-on make-and-take activities that can be immediately implemented in the classroom. Sessions are spaced across the school year and include follow-up on-site coaching to support application and sustainability of practices. Completion of the prerequisite course, Making Classroom Organization, Schedules, Positive Behavior Support, Teamwork, and Transitions Meaningful in Your Self-Contained Special Education Classroom, is required prior to participation.
