Effective communication is the foundation of learning, relationships, and positive behavior. This session will define communication and highlight why intentional instruction of communication skills is essential for student success. Participants will examine the powerful connection between communication and behavior, explore key considerations when developing communication systems, and review various student response modes. The session will also provide practical, classroom-ready strategies for teaching communication skills and demonstrate ways to intentionally connect communication instruction with daily academic and functional instruction. This training is designed to support educators in building meaningful, accessible communication opportunities for students with diverse learning needs.
