Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Outside of the student’s home, schools are the most likely place where mental health concerns will be detected. Fortunately, the earlier mental health concerns are detected and addressed, the more likely a student is to avoid the onset and/or progression of mental illness. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach teachers, school staff, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or is in crisis.

Important Session Information:

Many times, signs of deteriorating mental health are noticeable well before a mental health illness emerges.  Early mental health prevention and intervention has been shown to support better outcomes for youth and their families.  Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges among children and adolescents.  This course is evidence-based and satisfies HB 3 for mental health training for school staff.  Youth Mental Health First Aid also satisfies the mental health training requirement of the District Vulnerability Assessment.

Note:  This is a full-day workshop that does not require online pre-work.
