Annual Procurement Training






This course was developed with the collaboration of the TDA Food & Nutrition Training Team and input from 19 Child Nutrition Directors across Texas. Participants will learn to identify components of an effective procurement system, apply various tools for appropriate 
purchasing methods, including forecasting and cost analysis, and identify strategies to oversee contracts for compliance. Application activities throughout the course will provide practical, hands-on experience in real-world scenarios.

Learning Objectives:

Module 1: Procurement Procedures and Preparation
1. Identify the components of an effective procurement system. 
2. Define roles and responsibilities within the procurement process.
3. Use forecasting techniques to predict future procurement needs.
4. Demonstrate the process of conducting cost analysis.
Module 2: Purchasing
1. List Purchasing Threshold Requirements.
2. Apply micro-purchase, small purchase [quotes], RFP, and IFB methods correctly.
3. Identify acceptable types of non-competitive procurement methods.
Module 3: Contract Mgmt. Records & Documentation
1. Describe processes and procedures designed to serve as internal controls.
2. Identify key components required to effectively oversee contracts for compliance.
3. Identify required documentation for recordkeeping.
