Psychological First Aid for Schools






PFA-S is an evidence-informed intervention model to assist students, families, school personnel, and school partners in the immediate aftermath of an emergency. It is designed to reduce the initial distress and foster short and long term coping.

Important Session Information:


TEC 37.108 requires Psychological First Aid for Schools training for the following school staff:

  • members of the safety and security committee
  • district school counselors and mental health professionals
  • educators and other district personnel as determined by the district

PFA-S training also meets the requirement for the DVA - District Vulnerability Assessment.
