School Counseling 101: Guidelines and Tips for a New Counselor
New School Counselor Cohort






Welcome new school counselors! If you are a brand new counselor or you have three or fewer years of experience, please join this cohort for an opportunity to learn guidelines and tips and school counseling best practices. Participants will have an opportunity to meet and collaborate with other new counselors in the Region 8 ESC area.



Important Session Information:


If you are a brand new counselor or have three or fewer years of experience, please join us for a day of learning, sharing, collaborating and planning.  We will cover information about your new role and how the work fits into a Comprehensive School Counseling Program (CSCP). Topics will include the four components of a CSCP, student competencies, and the 80/20 work time policy per TEC 33.006.  Other topics will focus on MTSS Counseling supports at each level including, small groups, classroom guidance, strategies for effective planning and crisis response.  Participants will be able to network and collaborate with other new school counselors.
