Math and the Student Mind: How Neuroscience Can Improve Secondary Math Instruction
Share
Understanding how students think and how they learn can be a powerful tool to inform instruction. This is the foundation of the Texas Education Agency’s promotion of the RBIS (Research Based Instructional Strategies). While teachers don’t have to become neuroscientists in order to teach effectively, a basic understanding of their students’ brains can help improve not only how they teach but also how they relate to their students. This can lead to powerful academic growth. Join me as we dive into the research around how students learn math to help us navigate the classroom “mind-field".
