Data indicates that 1 in 5 children in the U.S. show symptoms of mental health disorders each year and suicide is now the 2nd leading cause of death for children ages 10-24. School staff are challenged to work with children and youth who experience mental health challenges. This session will cover evidence-based best practices set out by the AWARE and Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) on the appropriate suicide prevention protocols to help school staff in serving students.
