Virtual PD - Back to School 80/20 Counselor Resources
Supporting School Counselors in meeting the statutory 80/20 duty requirements

Participants will explore the value of school counselors spending work time on statutory counseling duties.  We will identify counseling resources to support the implementation of the counseling requirement with a focus on the 80/20 policy.

Important Session Information:

According to TEC 33.006, the school counselor's duties must support student's academic, career, personal, and social abilities. The board of trustees of each school district shall adopt a policy that requires a school counselor to spend at least 80 percent of the total work time on duties that are components of a comprehensive program developed under Section 33.005.  In this session, Stephanie Lerner, Counselor Support Manager at TEA will review the requirements and offer support on how to implement a program to provide optimal student support and improved student outcomes.
