The 'How To' Series: How to Read, Respond To, & Write (Fill in the Genre)
Informational Texts: How We Say It Really Matters! - For Secondary Teachers

Teaching secondary students to read, respond to, and write with the characteristics of each genre is essential for understanding and applying the TEKS. Sessions in this series examine the specificity and assessment nature of each genre while providing ideas and strategies that allow students to get the most out of their RLA experience.

Important Session Information:

Having a clear organizational structure is essential for good writing. Students often don't recognize why or how the author organizes informational texts; this session will help us ensure that students understand how text structure impacts the reader. Join us as we work through strategies that will help students annotate, analyze, and write their own informational texts on cross-curricular topics. We will focus on clear thesis statements as they drive the process!
