Dyslexia Intervention Fundamentals with Reading by Design-Day 1
Hybrid Course






Learn the fundamentals of dyslexia intervention through a review of Texas dyslexia laws and current research, as well as best practices in dyslexia instruction.  Delve into evidence-based components of instruction and explore continuums for developing reading ability in students with dyslexia.  Learn how to deliver daily intervention utilizing Reading by Design, a systematic, explicit, and intensive reading program.  Participants will receive the entire Reading by Design program with supplemental resources necessary for small group instruction.  This course requires attendance for 5 full days of training.
Earning a certificate for this course requires participants to successfully complete all assignments on time and pass a practicum model lesson.  Participants have a limited number of attempts to pass the practicum.  5 days = 30/hrs Credit
 

Important Session Information:


This Reading by Design training will be a Hybrid Course where Day 1 and Day 5 are face-to-face at the Region 8 ESC.  Days 2, 3, 4 will be completed utilizing an Online Canvas course.  You may complete Days 2,3,4 at your convenience, BUT MUST be completed before Day 5.  Day 5 is Practicum Day.  Participants will not be allowed to participant in Day 5 for Practicum unless all previous 4 days are completed.  Certificate for Reading By Design Intervention will not be issued until Practicum is passed.  

 

Day 5 is scheduled for May 25, 2023. (9:00am - 4:00) - Red River
