Figures, points, lines, angles, measurement, area, perimeter and some ventures into the coordinate plane--what
shape
are your 3rd through 5th grade students in when it comes to geometry? This training will provide a variety of strategies for developing a firm foundation of geometric understandings that will lead to greater success in the geometric world. We will cover how to lead students in developing their understanding by means of visual, descriptive, informal and formal deductive reasoning. The work will also lead to enabling students to engage in discourse that includes strong vocabulary in reference to attributes and the ability to compare, contrast and analyze when challenged with a variety of geometric tools and tasks.
