Cortical Visual Impairment: Unique Consideration for Functional Vision Assessment & Learning Media Assessment
CVI Topics with Christopher Russell

One of the critical roles of the teacher of students with visual impairments (TVI) is to provide functional vision assessments (FVA) and learning media assessments (LMA) to support the student’s educational program and team and maximize curriculum access and independence throughout the day. Cortical visual impairment has unique implications for the process of conducting appropriate FVA/LMA, and for the writing of reports to document and explain the results and recommendations obtained from testing. While the CVI Range is a starting point for obtaining these important results, TVIs require additional training in interpreting scores and applying these to the development of student-centered recommendations. This session provides a close look at FVA/LMA processes unique to students with CVI. A detailed template for FVA reporting will be shared with participants.
