This is a six-session series, covering high interest topics for all educators working with English learners.
This session will provide a deep dive into the State Assessment & Progress Monitoring component of the ESL Instructional Design: Lesson Planning and Curriculum category of the ESL program implementation rubric, designed to assist districts in program evaluation and enhancement. We will discuss the teachers role (in conjunction with the LPAC) in and practical ways to:
• monitor the progress of academic success of current and former emergent bilinguals (two years after reclassification), • determine appropriate assessment options for the state assessment (STAAR) for emergent bilinguals served in the ESL program, and • provide designated supports as necessary
We will discuss coordination between the LPAC, testing coordinators, and classroom teachers of emergent bilingual students to ensure designated supports provided by the LPAC for state assessment are commensurate with students’ linguistic needs and are utilized within classroom ins
