Meal Appeal University - National School Lunch Program
SESSION 2






This is a Special 2 Day workshop sponsored by Texas Dept. of Agriculture (as part of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010) to help improve the "Meal Appeal" of the school lunch and breakfast programs, and to increase participation in these programs by the students of East Texas.

Learn skills such as: Knife Skills, Seasonings, and Food Photography. This workshop will offer School Food Professionals the tools and techniques needed to improve the MEAL APPEAL on their school campuses.

 


Important Session Information:


This Meal Appeal University will offer a variety of workshops. 

Seasoning Station: Learn how to cook vegetables with various seasonings for flavor enhancement. 

Baking Station: Learn how to prepare standardized recipes for foods such as Whole Grain cinnamon and dinner rolls. 

Knife Skills: Learn how to properly and safely cut foods in meal preparation. Proper knife skills can be used to enhance meal appeal. 

Salad Bar & Serving Line Preparation:  Learn creative ways to set up a salad bar with a standardized serving line presenting visually attractive meals and promote healthy food choices. 

This NSLP workshop is by invitation only, For School Nutrition Staff Only!
