Aligning your CSCP with the TX Model for Administrators and Counselors






Following the Texas Model to plan, implement and evaluate your school's CSCP ensures that:

  • Students receive optimal support
  • The counseling program is based upon state law, campus data/goals, the school's mission, and SC professional standards
  • Counselors have time to counsel students
  • The program is in compliance with the law

We will also discuss appropriate and non-appropriate activities for school counseling programs, tracking time and activities to be in compliance with SB179 mandates of 80% of time providing direct services to students. 

Invite your Principal, Asst. Principal, Curriculum Director or other administrators to help with understanding of the recent changes and collaborate on your district's CSCP as a leadership team.


Important Session Information:


Texas Education Code 33.005 (2019) states that school counselors must "plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program that conforms to the most recent edition of The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs" and SB179. This presentation will help you do just that! The morning session will cover a content overview of the TX Model Guide, as well as detailing the three stages of creating a comprehensive school counseling program (CSCP)- planning, implementing and evaluating. The afternoon session will have a planning activity where participants can work through a CSCP checklist and collaborate with teammates who are also attending this training. For some of you, creating a CSCP may seem like an overwhelming project- this presentation will give you a clear blueprint to navigate the journey!
