Understanding Industrial Welder Qualifications






Presenter:  Rich DePue, The Certified Welding & Testing Company

Day 1- Classroom discussion 8 hrs.

  • A quick review of the current TEA Accountability and overview of licensure documents 
  • A quick review of all weld test lesson plans with teacher input on best practices to share
  • Intro to pipe welding, inspection, stainless, aluminum, metallurgy, welding symbols
  • A review of the AWS SENSE and AWS Certified Welder TEA Accountability items
  • New international online cutting torch curriculum and certification process

Day 2- Classroom discussion 4 hrs. Welding lab discussions 4 hrs.

  • Instructor demo of the advanced weld test lesson plans and destructive testing
  • Plate preparation and cutting of beveled angles using a track torch
  • Using the hydraulic press and AWS D1.1 guided bend testing fixture
  • Using the multi-meter to record actual arc amperage and voltage in calculation heat input values and calibrating welding machine output
  • AWS and CWB Certified welder testing available to those who wish to obtain and qualify
  • Intro to X-ray of welded plate and corresponding film interpretation
