LETRS introduces participants to the five essential components of instruction but emphasizes the language skills that link those components and the relationships among word recognition, fluency, and comprehension. LETRS teaches concepts and frameworks for understanding how children learn to read, explains why some children have difficulty with reading, implications of the differences between spoken and written language, and defines and describes dyslexia, along with other validated subtypes of reading difficulties.
