School threat assessment is recognized as a best practice for preventing school shootings and is included as a recommendation of SB11 as part of Governor Abbott’s school safety plan for Texas. This one-day workshop on school threat assessment will present a step-by-step process for addressing threatening and other potentially dangerous behavior in school or that could impact a school. It will also teach participants how to respond to threatening behavior and other disturbing behavior, gather additional information, make an assessment, and take preventive steps if necessary. The workshop is appropriate for school personnel, school security professionals, law enforcement professionals, mental health professionals, and others who may be tasked with addressing threatening behavior in school.
