G/T Update for Administrators & Counselors

Texas law requires that educators providing services to gifted/talented students have the specific qualifications as stated in the Texas Administrative Code §89.2 .  School districts shall ensure that administrators and counselors who have authority for program decisions have a minimum of six hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students and program options.

Important Session Information:

This ½ day afternoon session is a follow-up to the morning (A.M.) session.  Coordinators/Administrators will have an opportunity to work with colleagues and with the GT consultants one-on-one in addressing specific issues and concerns they may have.  The overarching goal is to give districts an opportunity to learn how they can become "exemplary" GT districts, using TAGT rubrics and the new state plan as a guide.  These 1/2 day meetings are ongoing throughout the year, and districts are strongly encouraged to send coordinators to the meetings.  The sessions also allow coordinators/administrators an opportunity to gain their six-hour yearly updates.
