Richard DePue will present this two day workshop and will provide:

• the theory and practical applications of shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
• a basic overview of TIG, MIG, Flux Core and Thermal cutting
• hands on SMAW of T joints, welder certification and testing of welded plates
• a review of American Welding Society (AWS), American Petroleum Institute (API) and American Society of Mechanical Engineering welding codes and their requirements for qualification and certification of welders. 
• the basic requirements for the visual inspection and destructive testing of welded plates and applicable code acceptance requirements
• describe a path for students to obtain certification to the above codes and for instructors to obtain certification to AWS, API and ASNT standards as welders and welding inspectors
• learn how to use the web site and track student and teacher certifications
