Social Studies: How to Conduct a Social Studies Fair on my Campus/How to Participate in the Region 8 ESC Texas Citizen Bee

This workshop will focus on two main areas: conducting a social studies fair on a campus/district and how to participate in the Region 8 ESC Texas Citizen Bee (winner to advance to state level).  Half a day will be spent on each topic.  Both of these extracurricular, academic activities will help differentiate learning for students at all academic levels.

Important Session Information:

Participants will focus on three areas during the workshop.

1.  Focus on how to conduct a social studies fair on a school campus.  Social Studies Fairs lend themselves to differentiation of instruction, problem based learning, and advanced academic opportunities and engagement.

2.  Focus on how to form a Texas Citizen Bee team to compete at Region 8 in April, 2019 with first place winner advancing to state competition in Austin.

3.  Focus on the Processing Skills associated with the Social Studies TEKS--strategies for addressing and mastering these processing skills and spiraling them into the curriculum throughout the year as "process".

Dimension 1.1: Standards and Alignment, Dimension 1.4: Activities, Dimension 2.4: Differentiation, Dimension 4.3: Professional Development; Standard 1 - Instructional Leadership
