Safety and Security Workshop

Texas Education Code Section 37.2121 requires that the Texas School Safety Center identify and inform school districts of the types of entities, including local and regional authorities, other school districts and emergency first responders, with whom school districts should customarily make efforts to enter into memoranda of understanding or mutual aid agreements addressing issues that affect school safety and security. These agreements facilitate the rapid sharing of emergency aid and resources. Formalized, pre-event agreements can also support and/or expedite FEMA reimbursement for services, equipment, and supplies after a declared disaster.

To support efforts in creating a school safety and security agreement, the Texas School Safety Center will be hosting a series of no cost workshops to assist district teams through the development and evaluation of their existing agreement. This will be a hands-on collaborative workshop; please plan to bring a copy of your district or campus plan and agreements and be ready to discuss with other participants the strengths and weaknesses you identify.

The workshops are open to school districts, emergency management coordinators, first responders, and/or individuals who play a role with school safety plans and procedures.
