If you have read the IDEA 2004 - Federal Definition of a Specific Learning Disability and you have received a download of the X-BASS 2.1 program, but you are not sure how they go together, then this is the workshop for you.
This course will explain the three methods of SLD Identification and how to put the "Alternative Research-Based Approach" or Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses method into action. Participants will learn about the Dual-Discrepancy/Consistency model of PSW and how Cross-Battery Assessment and the X-BASS 2.1 tool can be used to help inform your evaluation and analyze your data.
This course will emphasize that the identification of SLD is a clinical judgment that is made through a convergence of data sources and not one tool alone. Participants will learn how to build their assessment based on the referral question, how to augment their testing batteries to supplement and/or test hypothesis (Cross Battery), and how to analyze their data (X-BASS). A case study will be used to gain practical experience with the PSW, DD/C method.
